This event has passed.

Ole Bull, a world renowned 19th century violinist with ties to the Chippewa Valley, is the subject of a program of music and dramatic readings that will be performed on June 16, 2018 at 7PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Eau Claire. This world premiere performance commemorates the 145th anniversary of Ole Bull’s last Eau Claire concert. Local musicians Rob Kuchta - violin, Jen Lohmann - piano, Luke Otto - baritone, and Anna Rybicki - soprano, will perform music of the time period and provide the audience with a taste of this performer who captured the hearts of audiences worldwide.

This program of historical anecdotes gleaned from newspapers of the time period and music of the 1800’s was conceived as Rob Kuchta began researching Ole Bull following his retirement from science teaching. The script reflects the love early Wisconsin settlers, many who were recent immigrants from Norway, had for Ole Bull. The Madison Wisconsin State Journal reported in 1868 that one of Ole Bull’s concerts sold out, much to the disappointment of many of the area’s Norwegian immigrants who were unable to purchase tickets. Ole Bull’s agent quickly arranged for an additional afternoon performance for these fans.
